Valentine Cross Stitch Finish

I finished this into a Valentine pillow.

This design is by Country Stitches,

With Thy Needle and Thread.

I like the way cupid does not show

up a lot.

I think cupid is like an angel,

we don't really know

he (or she) is there.

Silently the arrows fly.

I am now working on the

February Word Play.

I usually do not stitch

a lot for Valentines,

but this year I'm much

more into it.

Hmmmmmm,

not sure why.

Boughs of Holly Pillow Finished

Sewing Room Makeover

Well it turned out to be more of a reorganization than a makeover.

I decided to simplify.

Went through all of my fabric.

Already sold some on ebay.

Will donate some.

My main goal was to get this into my sewing room.

Next to the wonderfully sunny window.

I love it!

A place to sit and stitch.

Lovely neat stacks of fabric.

This is where I take photos of

Looks like the wool still needs some straightening.

Question for Cross Stitchers

Hey all you cross stitchers out there.

How do you organize your Gentle Arts or WDW threads?

I have all my DMC on the plastic bobbins labeled with their number.

(When my daughter was little she called the bobbins "doggy bones".)

Anyhoo, looking for suggestions. Would love to hear from you!

When I order new colors it takes forever to sort through them to be sure I'm not ordering the same colors again.

Samplermakers Autumn Challenge

Someone asked if there will be a pattern for my Samplermakers Autumn Challenge sampler.

No, sorry, there will not. I do not design or chart cross stitch. The patterns are not my original designs. You may still be able to get them through Samplermakers.

Don't you just love Autumn colors!?

I cut these Zinnias from my yard.

They were a medium orange all Summer and now they are a dark orange, almost red.

Not sure how that happens.

The change of the season, I guess.

I will be releasing a new witch raggedy doll pattern soon.

Samplermakers Autumn Challenge

Finished before the deadline!

I wanted to show you my finished Samplermakers Autumn Challenge.

For the most part I like the way it turned out.

It feels so great when a project is FINISHED.

Time sure does fly. It has been over 2 weeks since my last entry.

We had company over the Labor Day weekend.

My sister, her husband and my great niece were here.

The kids and their families joined us on Sunday.

We had a great time!

BTW, my newest grandaughter is doing great.

She is soooooo precious.

I'm finally getting around to posting her picture.

My Pumpkin Patch

The latest in the ROM series is a little raggedy watching over her pumpkin patch. Maybe she's waiting for "The Great Pumpkin" to arrive!? Anywoo, she is anxiously awaiting Fall and cooler weather.

This pattern includes 2 sizes of pumpkins to make for your Autumn pleasure.

I took this picture when we were up in the mountains last weekend. I love the trees and the rocks for a background.

I'm having trouble getting the pictures printed today, so the pattern will probably not be on my website until tomorrow.

Stitchery Pillows

When I rented craft booths and did craft shows I used to sell little stitchery pillows. I really enjoy doing the stitching.

Then I tea stain them, sew the back on, stuff firmly and sew the opening closed. Some of my favorite patterns are from Buttermilk Basin and Cedarberry Stitches.

Baby Quilt, Diaper Bag, Shower Favors

I can't believe it has been over a month since my last blog.

Wait, oh yes I can!!

I made a baby quilt and diaper bag for my daughter, Erin. Her shower was last Saturday.

Yes, it's a GIRL!!!

I also made 30 little purses for the guests.

(Made with a Keyka Lou pattern)

Shower Favors.

We filled each purse with candy and sticky notes.

I am now working on the June and July Raggedy of the Month doll patterns.

Blooming Bags

I have gone totally out of the box!

I am making purses and totes.

Here are the first three.

This is a design by Keyka Lou Patterns.

There is a pocket on the outside with a button and loop closure.

There is also a pocket on the inside.

And as you can see, there is a magnetic closure.

I am calling them Blooming Bags, at least for now. I may decide on a different name later. Any ideas? If you have a name in mind send me a comment. If I use it, I'm sure I can come up with a prize. Perhaps a pattern or some fat quarters or a small handmade coin purse or bag of buttons? I could go on and on.

I will be putting these on ebay and my website later today.

Soar Sampler Sew Along

I am very excited about my new project, the Soar Sampler Sew Along. This is a cross stitch designed by Brenda Gervais of With thy Needle and Thread. She designed this pattern to commemorate the Eagle family in Iowa that is currently live on UStream. The world is watching as the 3 eggs hatched and the little eaglets are growing quickly.

This is what I have accomplished so far. I am working on 28 count Dirty Cashel Linen. I am using 2 strands of DMC flosses over 2 threads.

This is what the Sampler will look like when it is finished. I decided to work on the tan linen instead of black because my eyes just are not what they used to be. I do think the black linen is beautiful and wish I could have used it.

New Spring Raggedy Doll Pattern

Bunny and Me

My new Spring pattern, Bunny and Me, is finished! I really like the way she turned out. The bunny turned out so prim. I love that!! The pattern is available as a paper pattern or an e-pattern. The fabric for her dress and apron and the doll hair is also available on my website. The pink fabric was a bit much so I gave it a tea bath and I think it turned out well. Sometimes tea staining pastel colors is a little tricky. They turn out a little muddy.

I am going to make up a kit today so the pattern and fabric will be available in one quick click.

I can't wait to get my "Soar Sampler" cross stitch pattern. Have you been watching the live u-stream of the baby eaglets? There is a link in my previous post. They are growing fast!

Sewing Room Makeover

I've been busy in my sewing room. I moved all the bolts of fabric to the basement where I set up my little fabric store. I now have sooooo much more space in my sewing room. It still looks full but is more organized.

Office Space

My paper I use for patterns is organized on the left side of the desk. I have much more desk space. I was using a desk my son used in college. By the way, today is his birthday, he is 34. That desk was old!

Wool

Organized and waiting patiently for me to continue work on my Wool Crazy Quilt.

New Crazy Pillow

Blue Skies~~~~Sunshine

It's a beautiful day here with a blustery wind. There is always wind! There is a Red Flag wild fire warning again because it has been so dry and windy. Let's keep our fingers crossed that everyone is extremely careful not to start a fire.

What I wanted to show you is this little pillow I have on ebay. Hate to sell it! I'm going to have to make more. Love all things with crows. I adapted it from the book Crazy at Home by JoAnn Mullaly. The background is made from cotton fabrics, the appliques are wool. I added a branch and pretty pink and purple flowering buds. Reminds me of cherry blossoms.

Crazy Quilt

still crazy after all these years ............

I am working on a crazy quilt. It could be used as a table mat/runner or a doll quilt. It is approximately 14 x 24 inches. I am going to finish sewing the binding on and then give it a good tea bath to antique it a bit. Then it will be for sale on ebay or my website. I also started a crazy quilt pillow. I am doing the stitches on my machine. I did not realize I had so many embroidery stitches right at my fingertips. This project has turned out to be a lot of fun.

I am going to post on the Crazy Quilt Sew Along Blog. I have started the "Wool Crazy" applique quilt by JoAnn Mallaly. There is a link to the blog on the right. I love sewing the little applique pieces on by hand.

LOVE ~ Spring and Fabric ~

Yesterday I noticed my daffadils (spelling?) are coming up. Now you know those poor things are going to get snowed on! The heavy wet snow always comes when all the Spring bulbs are blooming. Oh well, right now I'm enjoying my silk tulips and fabric.

I am a totally addicted to fabric. That is why I started selling fabric. There is no way I can ever use it all myself. Anyhoo, now I have a reason to keep buying it, so I can offer it to all you fabric fanatics out there.

When Life Gives You Snow................

Make Snowmen!

I made this wallhanging some years ago. I think the designer of the pattern is Barbara Lloyd. (like to give credit where credit is due) I always hang it after Christmas because it seems like that is when we get snow. Rarely a white Christmas here in the Denver metro area. Yesterday we received about 3-4 inches of snow and a high of 17 degrees. Last night the low was -9 degrees. Burrrrrrrrrrrr. Problem is, the snow is too dry to pack and make a snowman. The temp today is all the way up to 28 and sunny. I did take the pooch out for a walk. We definitely had cabin fever.

Anyhoo, I am working on quilts for kids. I have some fun dog and cat fabrics. I am making 2 for my grandkids and 2 to donate to sick kids. I am resisting starting any new projects until this one is finished. Will show pics soon, I hope.

Sunset

Just wanted to share some gorgeous pics I took the other day of the sunset. Tried to get more mountains and less houses but it's kind of hard from my deck.

Yesterday I received my quilt back from the quilter so today I am sewing on the binding and then it's finished! WOOHOO!! Nothing better than finishing a project!

Quilt Top

My Quilt Top is Finished

I finished my quilt top yesterday. I think I will call it Winter Star. Now it is off to the quilter. I no longer even attempt to quilt them myself. I had too many quilt tops stacking up. I never would have finished them in a million years. If anyone needs the name of a good longarm quilter, just let me know. She is fantastic and she has many quilting designs to choose from.

The pattern for the dolls at the top of this blog is on SALE on my website. I also have many fabrics and selected doll hair marked down. I will be adding more sale items in the coming days. So, if your in need of any of those items or just want to stock up, come on over. The link is on the right.

It's a beautiful sunny day here. Temp is going to soar into the upper 30's. No excuse for not walking the pooch.

SNOW

LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW

We did not have snow for Christmas, but we are having a white New Year. Finally some much needed moisture. I wish I could show you a picture of snow covered woods, but I live in a subdivision. I live in Colorado, but I have to go to the mountains for a woodsy pic.

Like many of my favorite bloggers, I am also having trouble getting inspired with new designs. So, I started a new quilt. I have sooooooooooooooo much fabric that I could make hundreds of quilts. In fact, my New Year's resolution is to make some quilts and donate to Quilts for Kids and the Linus Project. This quilt, however, is for my family room. This is the first block. The fabric in the background will be used in the borders. Perfect day to quilt!! Burrr, it's cold outside.

NO SNOW

Once again, the snow missed us. If you looked exactly at the right time, we had snow for about 5 minutes. Then the sky cleared. OK, I'm not complaining, I know a lot of folks have tooooo much snow. We have beautiful blue sky and sun and much to be thankful for.

Where's the SNOW?

I can't believe it has been over a month since I've posted on my blog. Well I did have company over Thanksgiving for 2 weeks. There was a lot of cooking and cleaning going on then. No blogging or designing new patterns. But a good visit was had by all and a wonderful Thanksgiving with kids and grandkids getting to visit with their Grandparents and Great Grandparents.

Where's the SNOW?

I know the East part of the country is getting dumped on, but not in Colorado. Now, don't get me wrong, there is plenty of snow in the mountains for you skiers, but yesterday we hit a record high of 70 degrees in Denver. As you can see, there is plenty of sun glaring in behind my Christmas tree. I've been having some trouble getting into the spirit. They say this is all going to end tonight. I'll believe it when I see it.

Unlike Santa, of course, who I definitely BELEIVE in. See him peeking out from my tree? I'm being nice, not naughty, are you? I'm going to share some of my decorating with you.

Here is Olde Jack Frost sitting next to his tree. He's one of my favorites.

These are my Gingerbread trees. Love all those old primitive kitchen utensils and pans. Wish I could find more.

This is my companion, Wrigley. We are originally from south of Chicago, hence the name. My husband's is a Cub's fan. Wrigley is my best buddy. We just got back from our walk, which tomorrow should be in snow??!!??

I will share more decorating with you soon.

Hope your getting a lot of decorating, stitching, baking, shopping, etc. done and have had an easier time finding the spirit.

Love to Stitch

I have started doing cross stitch again. About 15 years ago I started quilting and totally stopped doing cross stitch. I'm not sure why, but I love it and have picked up my needle and hoop. Here is my first finished project.

This little Boo design is from Homespun Elegance.

This design is called "Witch's Hill" from Notforgotten Farm.

(sorry about the glare)

They were so much fun to make. But I must now get back to designing raggedy patterns for Winter and Christmas. I'm thinking little raggedy dolls in primitive stockings. Maybe some Santa's, grungy bears and, of course, snowmen or snow ladies. We'll see. Keep in touch to find out what I come up with.

Heavenly Rain!!

It has been so HOT, but today some heavenly rain came through this afternoon and a cool down. I'm sure it won't last long, but that's OK. Winter will be here soon enough.

CROW QUILT FINISHED

The little quilt turned out so nice. I hate to sell it, but I will be listing it on ebay today. :-(

I have taken this picture in front of the antique card catalog that I found in an antique store in the mountains last weekend. I have wanted one forever. Can't wait to fill it up with threads, buttons and other sewing supplies. I spent the morning rearranging my sewing room so that I could fit it in.

I have some great pics of wildflowers I took over the weekend I will be putting on soon. The mountains must have received their share of this heavenly rain because the wildflowers are gorgeous.

Good Afternoon!

I'm trying something new here, a blog. I can let everyone know what I'm working on at Attic Raggedys.

So, here goes. I'm working on 3 new patterns.

1st ~~ a set of 2 Annie gals, including a black doll.

2nd ~~ a witch, time to start thinking Fall

3rd ~~ maybe a pumpkinhead doll??

Also, I'm making little quilts out of some stitcheries and will be posting on ebay.
